πŸ‡πŸΌ The crazy cross country rules of eventing!

Why are we rewarding riders no matter their status on the eventing map MERs for something that evidently could have turned into something truly nasty?

Honest to God, I don’t even know where to begin? Does anybody remember all the drama at the Tokyo Olympics the other year?

The cross country phase that turned a little bit into the same kind of farce as the Eventing Nations Cupβ„’ finale at Military Boekelo back in 2014 where a faulty MIM-clip on fence number 19 generated a gazillion penalty points across the starting field.

So many actually that the officials came up with the idea and decided to scrape all penalties made on this particular fence.

And while they were at it they also decided to remove the penalties for just the one rider who seriously knocked down a complete other fence along the course. A fence which was armed with a complete other device.

A move which not only made people look like the famous painting of Edward Munch but also led to serious changes in the final ranking. Which in itself is a complete other story. Anyhow..
